Sleeplessness causes - how do you get sleepless nights?

Sleeplessness is a serious sleep disorder that needs treatment at the earliest. Sleeplessness is typically when individuals have difficulty going to sleep or staying asleep throughout the night.

If the body does not get enough sleep then it becomes a lot easier to eventually get other health problems due to the fact your body is rundown and is therefore more susceptible to picking up various germs.

Causes of sleeplessness

  • Some of the major causes of sleeplessness include a change in lifestyle, a change in hormonal balance, depression, anxiety disorders, and stress.
  • Some drugs have been pinpointed as causes of sleeplessness, such as stimulants, amphetamines, and any other medication that disturbs the chemical balances in the brain. If a drug is determined to be the cause of the condition, stopping the drug can make the condition disappear.
  • Other causes of sleeplessness include anything that can be classified as a nighttime disruption that occurs frequently throughout the night. This includes the crying of a baby, nightmares, frequent heartburn, weak bladder, and other medical conditions that are not usually associated with sleeplessness.
  • Sometimes, sleeplessness can be linked to controllable, environmental factors. Consuming caffeine or alcohol before bedtime can contribute to sleeplessness. In addition, engaging in excitable activities like arguments or watching provocative television programs can negatively effect sleeping patterns.
  • Certain pre-existing conditions may exacerbate sleeplessness in individuals. Those who suffer from heart or kidney problems, asthma, restless leg syndrome, Parkinson's disease and sleep apnea could be at risk for problems with sleeplessness.

Though sleeplessness may only seem to be a nuisance, the effects of insomnia can spill over to a person's daily life. Proper treatment is essential and critical for sleeplessness problems to lead normal life!
